First check the CBBcat catalog.  If Bates, Bowdoin or Colby College owns the item and it's either not available (checked-out, missing, etc.) or on reserve, you can click on the buttons on the right side of the catalog record:

Clicking should automatically repeat your search in MaineCat. In their catalog record, you should see two links: one to tell you which library(ies) have the item, and one to request the item.

At this point you can either see who else has the book, or you can click "Request this item" to place your order.  First the system will ask about your affiliation.  Make sure the dropdown box says "Bates College":

After you click the "Submit above information" button, you'll be asked to enter your name and ID number.  This is your full name and the 9 digit number on your ID that begins with "000"

If your request can't be found or is checked out in MaineCat, then use the "Bates ILL" link to request it from other libraries.

When your item arrives from any of these choices you will receive an e-mail telling you that the item is ready to be picked up from the Circulation Desk in the Library.
