If you are off campus, make sure that you are going through the library website. For example, search for an article or book in LibrarySearch+ from the library homepage.
Even if you are on campus, some databases will only recognize you as coming from Bates if you use the link that the library provides. These can be found by searching Online Resources from the library homepage, or by consulting our Research Guides.
Bates can sometimes access the TOCs and abstracts for journals we don't subscribe to. If you can't see the whole article through our library site, you can still request a copy from Interlibrary Loan. It may take longer than purchasing it online, but it won't cost you anything!
